GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY-MASS SPECTROMETRY (GC-MS) WITH HEADSPACE
DOWNLOAD REQUEST FORM HERE
INSTRUMENT NAME & MODEL: Perkin Elmer GCMS 2400 and Turbomatrix Headspace
Gas chromatography GC is used in separation of complex volatile/semi-volatile mixtures and detection and identification by mass spectrometry (MS). The GCMS is integrated with SimplicityChrom CDS for streamlined control, acquisition, and data analysis. Headspace Samplers (HS) automates introduction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from liquid, solid, or semi-solid samples into the GC or GCMS system.
CATEGORY: CHROMATOGRAPHY LAB

Special Features
-
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Ultra-trace MS sensitivity
- Pressure-balanced sampling and trap-enhanced sensitivity elevate capability in detecting volatile and trace-level analytes
- “SMARTsource” technology for easier maintenance, and “Clarifi Detector” with Marathon Filament for enhanced durability

Applications
- Food & flavor profiling (aroma, off-flavor analysis, packaging migration).
- Environmental VOCs (EPA 8260, drinking water analysis).
- Environmental volatile pollutant analysis in soil and water
- Forensic toxicology (volatile drugs, solvents, arson residues).
- Pharma QC (residual solvents, ICH Q3C compliance).
SAMPLE REQUIREMENTS
- Liquids, solids, semi-solids that release volatile or semi-volatile analytes.
- Analytes must be volatile enough to partition into the gas phase at the incubation temperature (usually 40–150 °C)
- About 1–5 mL liquid or 0.1–1 g solid in a 10–20 mL sealed vial.
- Sufficient headspace volume left inside the headspace vial.
- Vial must be sealed with PTFE/silicone septa and withstand heating (40–150 °C+)
Typical Results
RESULT (image/graph/spectrum etc.)
