ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS
Elemental analysis is a process where a sample of some materials such as food, drinking, and wastewater, soil, minerals, chemical compounds, etc. is analyzed for its elemental and sometimes isotopic composition. Elemental analysis can be qualitative (determining what elements are present), and it can be quantitative (identifying what elements are present), and it also can be quantitative (determining how much of each is present). Elemental analysis is clustered under Analytical Chemistry.
It is also very important to detect heavy metals for regulatory compliance, quality control, and product development. An instrument such as Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS) and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) are instruments that can trace heavy metals at low-level detection which are in part per billion (ppb) and part per million (ppm) levels.
